Please join us for the CASTAWAYS SAILING CLUB 12TH Annual CASTAWAYS CUP REGATTA! September 17 – 18, 2016
What a great success. Thank you to everyone who made this event a success. Great weather with some challenges to our sailing ability. The winners of this event where true sailors and tacticians.
Great competition and beautiful seas for the 2015 Fellowship Regatta.
The Castaways picnic hosted by Karen and Brian Beaver was a real hit, and Jon Luscomb did a fantastic Power Point on sailing techniques.
Thank you Karen, Brian and Jon!!!
This years Castaways Cup was a real thriller with a wonderful variation weather and good racing. As Jon said “Lots of wind and no wind, lots of rain and no rain!”
Don’t forget the Party at Jonathan’s Landing on Saturday! See calendar for directions and time. Unfortunately this event is now sold out!
All the planning and the hard work of Castaways Sailing Club and Hillsboro Inlet Sailing Club has come together as a major success. Michael Carrington of HISC encouraged 8 boats to make the trip north to do our race and we will soon return the favor.
About 30 boats started in light ESE winded conditions on Saturday heading North on a persuit start. There was some close compitition including the 2 identical Leopard catamarans that finished seconds apart.
Sunday defied the forcast, waking up to over 10 knts of ssw wind, making racing much more fun for everyone. Some went gently out to sea in very light current and some took advantage a southerly reverse current. Beautiful racing!!
Thanks to all our wonderful sponsors!
Awards event next week!
Hillsboro to Palm Beach Race, co-sponsored by Hillsboro Inlet Sailing Club and Castaways Sailing Club was a huge success with 34 entries and 13 Castaways boats making the trip south on Friday to enjoy the Voss’s great hospitality and a fun night for awards at Sandpiper’s at Old Port Cove. Of course the Hillsboro boats probably had a fun beat back home!
Race day I think, everyone will agree, was very challenging with erratic winds with off and on. The hospitality at Old Port Cove was exceptional and the dinner and awards at Sandpipers was a real hit.
Looking forward to next year!!
